Young man discovered £72,500 in cash in a Vienna River & Rewarded 10%
More than €100,000 (around £72,000) has been discovered floating in Vienna’s Danube river.
And the lucky young man who first found the notes will receive the whole amount if its rightful owner isn’t found within a year.
The source of the money is as yet unknown, and they are currently drying in an Austrian police station.
The money is in €100 and €500 notes – and no one knows whether this was an accident or some bizarre act of watery generosity.
No criminal act has been identified in connection with the discovery of the notes so far.
The alarm was raised on December 5 when a young man was seen jumping into the river.
Bystanders thought they were witnessing a suicide attempt and called the police, but the man was actually trying to grab some cash
He has now laid claim to some of the money – and so can you, should you find some of it.
In Austria, anyone who finds money and brings it to the police can claim between five and 10 per cent of the sum.
