World AIDS day: Dickson has abandoned AIDS patients

Ahead of  Today’s celebration of the World’s AIDS Day, the Sylva-Igiri Campaign has raised alarm on the poor state of welfare of People Living With HIV/AIDS in Bayelsa State.

A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation, Chief Nathan Egba, expressed concern that that the incumbent Seriake Dickson administration has stripped People Living With AIDS, PLWAs of benefits conferred to them by previous governments of DSP Alamieyeseigha, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Timipre Sylva.

In a message of solidarity with the PLWAs, the Sylva-Igiri campaign said it believes that they are entitled to a better life of love and care.

The statement read in part:

“During the tenure of Chief Timipre Sylva, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the APC, as Governor, the People Living With HIV/AIDS enjoyed the best of support from government.

“Then Governor Sylva, did not only give monthly stipends, but provided free Anti-Retroviral drugs for their medical maintenance with full support to the State SACA.

Egba thus called on the PLWHIV/AIDS to support the election of Sylva on Saturday so as to experience marked improvement in their quality of life.
