Senate passes N574bn supplementary budget

The Senate on Tuesday passed the supplementary budget of N574 billion.‎
Out of the amount, N521 billion will be used of settle the outstanding fuel subsidy debt.
It could be recalled that Preesident Muhammadu Buhari sought the approval of the National Assembly for a supplementary budget of N465.3 billion.

However, the Senate Committee on Appropriate decided to add N108 billion to the supplementary budget in order to up settle the outstanding fuel subsidy debts.
The Senate, though expressed dissatisfaction with the failure of the Executive to provide the needed details for the approval to be granted, nonetheless went ahead to approve the budget on Tuesday.
The Senate had requested for, among other things, the details of the debt owed oil marketers.
