Local news outlets reported that parents gathered on Wednesday morning outside the Guangzhou Bo Wen School in Guangdong province, holding photos of their children covered in welts and bruises.
One parent said: ‘I wouldn’t beat my own child. How could a teacher be so cruel?’
Another described her son coming home with bright red marks across his back. When asked about the wounds, he said: ‘I was talking too loud during the lunch break, so the teacher hit me.’
He went on to explain that his second grade class couldn’t sleep during their nap and began chatting to one another.
The teacher then came into the classroom and said that they were being too loud, before allegedly beating each one in turn with a broom
The teacher later admitted he hit the students because their noise disturbed his nap, and apologised for his actions.
He has since been taken in for questioning by police.
