London Bomb Scarce as Regent Street evacuated after abandoned black taxi sparks bomb scare

The busy shopping road was closed off outside famous kids store Hamleys amid suspicious vehicle fears The Sun reported .

Thousands of shoppers were evacuated as more than 600ft of the popular shopping destination was cordoned off. Scotland Yard said police responded to reports of a suspect vehicle which came in at about 1pm.
Bomb squad officers appeared to be examining a black cab in the middle of the street.
The vehicle was pictured with smashed windows, with Twitter reports wrongly claiming they had been "shot out".Metropolitan Police confirmed no shots were fired in the incident.
The cordon remained in place until shortly after 2pm when the bomb unit was "stood down".
A spokesman said the vehicle had been examined and proved to be non-suspicious.
The road has since reopened.
