Chief of Army Staff escapes assassination attempt

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, on Saturday, escaped an assassination attempt when the Shiite Islamic group members attacked his convoy in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The attempt on the life of the army boss was confirmed by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, in a tweet on Saturday afternoon.
"Shiites attempt to assassinate the Chief of Army Staff in Zaria," the twwet read.
It was also gathered that about eight persons were killed during the clash between soldiers and members of the sect.
