It’s been a busy weekend on the forecourts at branches of Asda across the country after they lowered the price of petrol to under £1 as reported by metro UK.
Some branches ran out and were forced to close after they put the cost of filling up to just 99.7p per litre (103.7p on diesel).
But if you’re hoping the low prices are here to stay, you’re going to be sorely disappointed – the offer ends today.
It’s the first time a litre of unleaded petrol has fallen below the £1 mark since 2009
From tomorrow, the price will go back to 103.7p on unleaded and 106.7 ppl on diesel.
The price was introduced on Friday as part of Black Friday.
The supermarket chain had earlier said it was not going to take part in the event after chaotic and violent scenes in its stores last year.
Asda is owned by US giant Walmart and was one of the original retailers that helped to bring the Black Friday phenomenon from the US to the UK.
The discounts will have added impact following the freeze on fuel duty announced in the Autumn Statement on Wednesday.
