The U.S. Secret Service apprehended a man after he jumped over a White House fence as the first family was inside celebrating Thanksgiving.
The man, whose identity has not been released, breached a barricade before jumping over a fence on the North Lawn that was recently outfitted with 7-inch steel spikes to deter such acts.
The jumper was almost immediately detained by Secret Service officers who had their guns drawn and were accompanied by K-9 units, according to two CNN photojournalists who witnessed the incident.
They said he was carrying an envelope, had on a blue shirt and white pants and was cloaked in an American flag.
The White House issued an official "all clear" about two hours after the episode began.
